BrikSim Beta 2.1.


BrikSim Version Beta 2.1 has been released!

This version has been released on the 22/11/2022, a very important day for BrikSim, as it is the 1-year anniversary of the game! In celebration, playing BrikSim and exploring the new announcements menu will contain a little surprise… but you will have to find out what it is for yourself.

This version contains new features, content, and bug fixes to BrikSim:

BrikSim 2.1 Adds:
* A new level (Level 4) (currently untextured and incomplete).
* Low detail mode setting, this setting reduces the amount of geometry in the background an makes the game run faster (can be toggled in
the menu or pause settings, currently available for only: Level 1, Level 2 and the Menu).
* Death screen (if the player falls, a death screen appears forcing the player to either quit the game or restart the level that they just failed).
* Added a death counter (Every time the player dies, in the bottom left is a counter of how many times the player had died).
* Added a random death message when the player dies in the death screen.
* Redesigned the loading screen, it now features a loading bar across the bottom of the screen + “yellowman” icon that is filled depending on loading status
* Redesigned menu background, now featuring terrain height, paths, and trees.
* New Announcements menu.
* Announcements that appear after reopening the menu
* Announcement for version key features that resets read status when new versions release.
* Announcement for 1 year anniversary of BrikSim.
* Redesigned Options Menu, now featuring:
* New tab icons.
* Home tab.
* Video tab.
* Redesigned info tab.
* Level F can be reached legitimately now, after completing level 4.

 BrikSim 2.1 Changes:
* Inventory menu now features UI elements + larger buttons.
* BrikSim Logo, now features drop shadow.
* Updated the BrikSim level image
* Changed the settings/options icon.
* Changed the credits logo.
* Changed position of text/images in the credits.
* First boot menu now included with announcement menu, making it act more like an announcement instead of a demand.
* Changed the animation and background image of the boot screen.
* Redesigned the inventory, it now includes bigger buttons and UI elements.
* It is no longer required to close BrikSim if wanting to delete data.
* Animation colours in the menu

 BrikSim 2.1 Fixes:
* Escape button on the menu now closes all sub menus
* Fixed grammar issues
* Fixes a bug where having a tool equipped using a pickup would not show the current state of the torch/axe in the info section of the
inventory.
* Inventory equip button now works correctly after level transition.
* Fixed a bug where exiting the tutorial level whilst the hint UI was active would cause the inventory to not open in other levels.
* Smaller things that go undocumented.

 This Update also incorporates most changes from both B2.0.1 and B2.0.2., including:
* Level 3 Update.
* Added delete data shortcut in the play menu.
* Added more links.
* Added animations to the quit menu.
* Added resizing in windowed mode.
* Changed the lights to not be so bright.
* Added textures to Level 3 (Replacing in the future).
* Music in the tutorial level.
* Re-added the old level select menu, you can access it by pressing the purple arrow in the play menu.
* Main Menu button animations.
* Support for 4:3 and 5:4 aspect ratios.
* Stretched textures are no longer stretched.
* Added poles under floating platforms.
* Corrected z-fighting
* Fixed cuttings in walls, ceilings, and floors.
* Moved the doors around.
* Outside Removed.
* End Brik now spins.
* Menu loading screen now scales according to your screen size.
* Menu loading screen now loads according to your screen size.
* Level 4 unlocks after reaching it.
* Incorrect titles.
* The Axe is no longer referred to as "Pickaxe" in the inventory.
* Text rewrites and tweaks.
* Delete data text now actually makes sense.
* First play screen now actually makes sense.
* Delete data menu and first play screen now look a lot better.
* Changed the icon logo.
* Voice lines that play at the end of level 2 and level 3 actually play now.
* Reticle toggle works in level 1, level 2, level 3, level 4, and level 5.
* Play menu would bug out when closing and re-opening it while the music level was selected.
* Pressing play on the music level while it was not unlocked would not show "Failed to load" screen.
* Opening the pause quit menu, then pressing either hints or settings would cause the "Quit To..." button to disappear.
* Having the tutorial hints UI open, then pausing and unpausing the game would lock the cursor in place but keep the menu open.
* Menu Spinning button would not update correctly.
* Fixed the lights in level 3 turning on, then off and then back on again.
* Clicking images in the credits would not close the credits.
* Itch.io logo colour changed to green instead of red.
* Organised the dev menu.
* Fixed incorrect version strings.
* Other small tweaks.

BrikSim Beta 2.1 Removes:
* Quit menu animations
As well as removals from B2.0.2 and B2.0.1:
* 2 links on the main menu.
* Gross texture from level 3.
* Redundant scripts.
* Redundant game objects.
* Duplicated pages.
* LevelDEV being built into the final build.
* General Bugs.
